The “Evaluation of Integration Courses” (EvIK) project examines the effectiveness of integration courses offered to refugees in Germany, with a focus on general integration courses and German language courses.
In the context of increased demands on integration, the project aims to answer whether integration courses are still a good fit for the current integration system, and which measures can contribute to increasing their effectiveness and efficiency for successful communication of language and values.
Data was collected on-site in the integration courses at the beginning and end of the course using online tools (including audio texts for participants with poor reading skills). To be able to answer the research questions comprehensively, information was also obtained from integration course providers and teachers.
Course participants who left the course prematurely were interviewed outside of the course when the course ended. Approximately one year after the course had finished, all participants who attended the course regardless of completion were surveyed again.

IEA has been commissioned with the essential tasks of preparing and implementing the study, the technical implementation of the survey tool, tablet logistics, and data management.
